Snow Day in St. George, Utah

The day started out with dry streets, clouds in the sky and pretty cold. I thought this day would be pretty normal just like all the other days. I went to work and was told a few hours later was told that it was snowing again outside, it had snowed two days before. I didn't think to much about it, the other day it was not bad at all. I got off work at 7pm and went out side to find my car covered with snow. Danielle was suppose to be at Walmart helping her Ward with bagging gifts for the Coins for Kids program here in St. George and due to the weather as I was driving home I thought that maybe I should check to see if she was at Walmart or if she left her car at the church. As I drove into the parking lot of the church my car started to slide and I was afraid to have Danielle drive home in the weather, so off the Walmart I went. (her car was not at the church). So I go into Walmart and was greeted with a Coins for kids tshirt, a clip board and a list of clothing items for a one year old boy. Now I could not resist going a buying clothing for a little boy that was in need. It took about 45 minutes to find just the right sizes and items that I thought would be cute for a little boy, (we were given a $50.00 budget which to spend, that was just a small part of money that was donated from the community) When I was done they asked if I want to shop for another family, I of course could not say no, even as I was thinking that the weather is probably getting worse outside. I took another family sheet and started off to pick out clothing for this family. I decided to go find Danielle for just a moment to tell her how bad it had gotten outside and found her bagging her little heart out. There were baskets and baskets filled with toys and clothing that needed to be rang up and bagged with the family number written on the bags. There were about 6 or 8 registers doing all the same thing. They were in need of help with the bagging so I took the family paper that I had gotten and gave it to someone else and jumped in to help bag. Well Danielle and I were at one register bagging as one of Danielle's friends from her ward was unloading the baskets and dividing the items so that we knew when the next family items started. The bags were marked the items were put into the bags and men and boys loaded the bags onto carts and into trucks to go to the Dixie Center where volunteers will be wrapping the gifts today. We finally got home about 10pm and the roads were slush. When we got home we took some pictures of what the house looked like wit snow all around. I love the picture of the front of the house where you can see my front door to the side. It looks as if Santa and Mrs. Claus would answer the door. This morning I woke up and found the snow to be stacked about 6 inches on the brick walls in our back yard. What a wonderful thing to wake up to. It is a beautiful sight.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was very quiet this year. It was just Danny, Dee Dee, Becca and me. I cooked, did laundry and we watched movies. Very quiet day. Things are getting cold around here and the views out the back window are beautiful. The trees are loosing their leafs and are some wonderful fall colors. Aubrey and Becca are getting ready to go on a choir trip to Salt Lake City and things will be real quiet when they are gone. Danielle started working at Tai Pan and wishes she wasn't. This is a busy time. My job is going good, but all I really want is to be home and be able to be a grandma. I guess that is what you get when you are a young grandma.
